Pudong

Since opening its doors in 1990, Pudong has emerged as China’s financial and commercial hub. It is situated east of the Huangpu River and is considered a cosmopolitan area, housing some of Shanghai’s most vital buildings, including the Oriental Pearl Tower, Shanghai World Financial Center, and the Shanghai Stock Exchange. Before 1990, Pudong was mostly farmlands and countryside, but in the past two decades it has undergone amazing economical changes. Since then, it has evolved into a multicultural, urban district symbolic of modern China.
