Located in Xian City, the Shaanxi History Museum is a comprehensive museum which holds more than 370,000 cultural relics from all different periods of Shaanxi history. Shaanxi Province is said to be the birthplace of ancient Chinese civilization, and Xian was the capital city in thirteen dynasties which spanned over 1000 years. As such, the history of Shaanxi encapsulates the ancient history of China. Most of the artifacts on display in the museum were excavated from the Shaanxi Province. They include many rare and precious stone carvings, bronzes, calligraphies, and countless more. The two-storied building was modeled after Tang Dynasty architecture and covers a total area of 16 acres (70,000 sq. m).
