Coronation Hall

Coronation Hall, previously a court of justice, is constructed in several architectural styles reflecting the desires of the monarchs who created them.   The roof is shaped with the  green and red tiles hugging the pagoda and the entrance is guarded by the  mythical beasts;  the audience halls with thrones of mother-of-pear and gold leaf,  Coronation Hall is completed with coronation chair, and reception chambers holding the regalia of kingship.    Furthermore, many fine murals depicting the life-story of the Buddha, and on the panels of the doors exquisite inlaid work in mother-of-pearl depicts episodes from the Ramakien, the Thai version of the Indian epic Ramayana.

Please note that the proper attired is required to visit the Grand Palace.   No shorts, no sleeveless shirts, no short skirts and no informal footwear.  The clothing inspectors stationed at the Palace Gate will refuse admission or request wearers to wear more appropriate cover which will be provided for them.
