All foreign nationals traveling to the Peoples Republic of China (PRC) must travel with a valid passport and visa obtained prior to entering the country.
If you are a US resident holding a green card, you MUST make a copy of both sides of your green card and submit it with your actual passport and China Visa Application Form. If you are non-U.S. resident without legal status in US, please contact the China Consulate directly.
Obtaining a China Visa through AffordableAsia:
If you choose to use our services to obtain your China visa, you must mail us the following requirements no later than 35 days prior to your departure date:
- Your actual passport
- The completed and signed China Visa Application Form (Click here to download)
- One 2”x2” passport photo (only color picture is acceptable)
- For applicants born in China applying with a new foreign passport: please submit your Chinese passport or last foreign passport with a Chinese visa.
- For applicants born in Hong Kong applying with a new foreign passport; please include a copy of your Hong Kong Identification
It is your responsibility to ensure that the above requirements are met and that you possess a China entry visa prior to departure. You will be responsible for any extra service charge caused due to your materials fail to meet the above requirements.
Please do not mail out your passport too early, in case you need it to travel abroad. We will not process the visa application until about 60 days prior to your departure date. If you cannot send the passport to us in a timely manner due to other travel arrangements, please contact us immediately.
Your passport and China visa will be returned to you via USPS or DHL. If you require expedited processing or mailing, additional service and mailing fees will apply.

Obtaining a China Visa Yourself:
If you choose to obtain a China Visa on your own, the P. R. China has an embassy in Washington DC and 5 consulates in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Houston, and New York. You may submit your visa application at any of these consulates. Please be advised that the Chinese Consulate does not accept mail-in visa applications due to increased security measures. You must physically present your application and documents to the China Consulate or entrust someone to handle the application on your behalf. It takes approximately 4-5 business days for the consulate to process a visa application. Rush fees apply if you require expedited services.
The China Consulate charges a flat fee of $140 for single and double entry visas. You can pay with cash, Visa, or a company check. Personal checks and all other credit cards are not accepted.
Additional Information
• If the visa application form is not filled out completely, correctly, and legibly, this may cause a delay in processing or a refusal of the requested visa. Please request your visa according to your times of entry, duration of stay and time of entry.
• Applicants may need to provide other documents if requested by Consular officers.
• Any person(s) suffering from a mental disorder, leprosy, AIDS, venereal diseases, contagious tuberculosis or other such infectious diseases shall not be permitted to enter China.
