Day 1  USA - Bangkok

Board our transpacific flight to Bangkok, the starting point of our journey. *Thailand entry visa is not required for USA passport holders. Day 2  Arrival Bangkok Accommodation: Centara Grand At Central Plaza Ladprao Bangkok or Similar

Touch down in Taipei and catch a connecting flight to Bangkok, Thailand's capital city. Upon arrival, we will be greeted and transfered to the hotel for rest.

Day 3  Bangkok (ABF,L) Accommodation: Centara Grand At Central Plaza Ladprao Bangkok or Similar

Home to nearly 9 million people, Bangkok fuses über-modernity with age-old Buddhist traditions. After breakfast, discover the city’s royal history and rich culture on a sightseeing tour. Visit the Temple of Golden Buddha (Wat Trimitr), home to the world’s biggest solid-gold Buddha statue, measuring 10 feet high, weighing over 5 tons, and valued at $14m. Drink in the scents and colors of orchids, marigolds and roses as we pass by the Paklong Talat flower market, and visit the Temple of the Reclining Buddha (Wat Pho) to admire its gargantuan statue. After a Thai buffet lunch at a local restaurant, continue to a gem workshop and silk factory to see how these precious items are produced for sale. This evening, don’t miss our optional tour of one of Bangkok’s most popular night markets followed by a classical Thai dinner show.

Day 4  Bangkok (ABF) Accommodation: Centara Grand At Central Plaza Ladprao Bangkok or Similar

Today, enjoy Bangkok independently, perhaps visiting more Buddhist temples, sampling the incredible restaurants or street markets, or shopping at the modern malls. Alternatively, experience Bangkok’s main attractions on our optional Landmarks of Bangkok tour. Walk through the Grand Palace, a stunning complex of gold-coated halls and shrines that housed Thailand’s royals for 150 years, and which includes the sacred Temple of the Emerald Buddha. After a boat ride along the Chao Phraya River, enjoy lunch at a local Thai restaurant, and visit the Dusit Palace to explore the Ananta Samakhom Throne Hall, a Renaissance-influenced mansion commissioned by King Rama V in 1906. View the ‘Arts of the Kingdom’ exhibition of precious Thai arts in this magnificent marble hall before returning to your hotel. **Visitors must have shoulders, arms and legs fully covered to visit the Ananta Samakhom*

Day 5  Bangkok - River Kwai (ABF,L) Accommodation: Felix River Kwai Resort

Start out after breakfast this morning, traveling southwest from Bangkok to the colorful Damnoen Saduak floating market. Chug along the waterways by long-tailed speedboat, passing canoes piled with fruits, spices, flowers and souvenirs, and gaining fascinating insight into the Thai people’s daily life. Next, head to Kanchanaburi to visit the War Cemetery and Bridge over River Kwai, where in 1943, thousands of Allied prisoners of war and Asian laborers worked on the ‘Death Railway.’ After lunch and hotel check-in, enjoy the rest of the day free or enjoy our optional Elephant trekking and Bamboo rafting tour.

Day 6  River Kwai-Ayutthaya (ABF) Accommodation: Krungsri River Hotel

After breakfast, journey to Ayutthaya, home to the UNESCO-listed ruins of the medieval capital of Siam. Founded in 1350, this royal city was a major power for over 400 years, until Burmese forces destroyed it in the 1700s. Stroll around the remains of this once-thriving city, seeing the restored chedi of the crumbled Wat Phra Si Sanphet, the blackened remnants of monasteries, the carved Buddha face entangled in tree roots, and the working Wat Yai Chaimongkol temple. Your tour also includes time at the Bang Pa In palace, a beautiful lakeside retreat of Thailand’s kings during the 19th century. Tonight, make the most of Ayutthaya’s setting by joining us for an optional dinner cruise on a traditional wooden rice barge.

Day 7  Ayutthaya - Pattaya (ABF,L) Accommodation: Long Beach Garden Hotel & Spa

Relax over breakfast before a scenic drive to Pattaya, a popular vacation spot on the east coast of the Gulf of Thailand whose beaches and entertainments draw thousands of visitors annually. On arrival, experience the virtual ‘Theme Park - Dark Ride’ at a gems gallery, learning about Thailand’s most prized gemstones. Then, check in to your hotel and enjoy the rest of the day as you please, perhaps relaxing on the sands or by the pool. Later, you may wish to take our optional Pattaya by Night tour, savoring a sumptuous seafood dinner and cabaret show.

Day 8  Pattaya (ABF,D) Accommodation: Long Beach Garden Hotel & Spa

Today, choose to relax at your hotel, or enjoy our optional day trip to Coral Island, an idyllic islet 45 minutes by boat from Pattaya. Speed over the seas to the island and laze on the white sands or swim, snorkel or dive in the translucent waters, with a break for a seafood lunch. Join your fellow travellers this evening for a delicious farewell dinner at your hotel.

Day 9  Pattaya - Bangkok (ABF) Accommodation: Centara Grand At Central Plaza Ladprao Bangkok or Similar

Enjoy the best part of the day free before a return transfer to Bangkok for an overnight stay. This evening, why not mark your last night in Thailand’s exciting capital with our optional Chao Phraya dinner cruise by Grand Pearl.  Admire views of the floodlit Grand Palace, and Bangkok’s golden temples and river bridges as you enjoy a scrumptious buffet dinner on board your luxurious cruise.

Day 10  Bangkok - Taipei (ABF) Accommodation: Howard Plaza

After breakfast, check out of your Bangkok hotel and transfer to Bangkok International Airport  to catch your flight to Taipei, Taiwan’s buzzing capital. This subtropical gem lies off China’s coast in the Pacific Ocean, and is renowned for its mountain scenery, highly developed cities and elaborate temples. On arrival, relax with a transfer to your hotel in the city, and spend the remainder of your day as you wish. Perhaps make the most of the comforts and amenities at your hotel, or head out for your first taste of this fast-paced metropolis.

 

Day 11  Taipei (ABF) Accommodation: Howard Plaza

After breakfast, set off on a fascinating half-day sightseeing tour of Taipei: a pulsating metropolis where stylish shops and glass skyscrpaers go hand-in-hand with colorful markets and ancient temples.  Stroll around the National Palace Museum to view its acclaimed collection of Chinese antiquities, and visit the grandiose Chiang Kai-shek Memorial and Martyr’s Shrine.  Soak in the electrifying pace as you tour, and then enjoy the afternoon at leisure, relaxing or sightseeing as you wish. This evening, join our optional Taipei by Night tour, visiting the Hwahsi night market and Taipei 101, the world’s second highest building, before enjoying the ever famous Din Tai Fung dumplings.

Day 12  Taipei (ABF) Accommodation: Howard Plaza

Explore and enjoy Taipei in your own way today, or seize the chance to see more of Taiwan on our day trip to Taroko Gorge. Ride a train and venture deep into Taiwan's picturesque East Coast National Scenic Area, passing lush paddy fields, sheer cliffs and fishing villages. Marvel at the incredible Taroko Gorge, a narrow canyon that threads through marble cliffs , and take a drive along the spectacular road carved into the gorge side above the Liwu River. Afterward, visit the Eternal Spring Shrine, Swallow Caves, Tunnel of Nine Turns, Tienhsiang Lodge, Chi Hsing Beach, Hualien Stone Sculptural Park and other must-sees before enjoying your scenic train ride back to Taipei.

Day 13  Taipei-USA (ABF)

Relax over breakfast at your hotel this morning and after checking out, enjoy a convenient transfer to Taipei International Airport for your homebound journey. Bid goodbye to Taipei as your board your international flight, bringing your Thailand and Taiwan adventure to an end.
